After a wonderful winter season of snowmobiling, a group of 27 friends assembled for a banquet in the spring of 1969 at the Taborton House. They discussed the idea of organizing a snowmobile club dedicated to preserving the sport of snowmobiling. It was there that the Black River Raiders were born.

Snowmobile Club
That year the Raiders first meeting was held at the V.F.W. Post in Poestenkill, and officers were chosen.
In 1970 a trail committee was formed and the group began maintaining the trails in the woods for all to ride.
In 1971 a trail groomer was purchased to keep the trails smooth, and safety courses were offered.
Then in 1972 the club joined both the Hudson Valley Snowmobile Council, and the NYS Snowmobile Association.
And in 1974 the Black River Raiders became incorporated.
Today the Black River Raiders is over 100 members strong and growing!
An extensive trail system is maintained on a regular basis, and in conjunction with other snowmobile clubs from adjacent counties, snowmobilers can ride all throughout New York State and even beyond.
Another season for the Raiders is about to begin! So climb on and ENJOY THE RIDE!!
